This 1973 Ford Bronco 4×4 is finished in red with a white removable top, a white insert on the hood and black bumpers. Rolling on Cooper Evolution M/T offroad tires and aluminum wheels, it presents in very stock, original condition. Powered by a 5.0L/302 CI V-8 engine with a 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission and a new Posi-traction rear end with 4.10 gears, the consignor believes the Bronco is a matching-numbers vehicle. The 5.0L engine has two sets of headers, but is currently running on the factory exhaust system. Thought to be a lower-mile example, the odometer shows 134 miles, but the true milage is unknown. However, the previous owner sought to restore it in the 1980s, taking it entirely apart only to let it sit. As such, it took on no miles through the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s until 2019. The consignor bought it in 2019 and has been working on putting it all back together, but admits it is not 100% completed. Many additional spare parts will accompany the sale of the Bronco, including the original steel wheels, front door panels, and the fender flares. Said to start and drive fine, the consignor says he knows of no accidents. The body was repainted in the 1980s but shows no actual bodywork or rust; however, a number of places show masking tape residue. The horn doesn’t work, but the chassis features new brakes, including the drums and hardware on the rear. The front has been converted to power discs and locking hubs from Tom’s Bronco Parts. The black interior has been restored with a new deluxe kit from Tom’s Bronco Parts. Complete with a rear bench seat, the interior features premium door and quarter panel trim, carpeting, and the front bucket seat covers feature textured inserts. JO –
I had the opportunity to make a quick trip to see this Bronco. While it is not 100% complete, it is a rust free example of this iconic 4×4. The restoration is being done right, even if it’s been years in the process.
When I arrived at the owner’s house, the Bronco was sitting in a non-heated outbuilding, and I was impressed that it fired right up in 32-degree weather. This Bronco is almost complete and just needs a little more assembly to be a great piece. This is a running and driving Bronco that will for sure make the new owner proud.
If you’re interested in this Bronco, set a reminder that the listing will go live on Thursday, Feb. 13. Only a 1.5% buyer’s premium, we offer the lowest percentage compared to other auction platforms.
